Thomas J. Kniffen

Tom retired from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) after 16 continuous years of service as an attorney, where Tom focused exclusively upon VA Disability Benefits. His work included researching legal issues, writing proposed and final rulemakings and policy papers, all of which pertained to VA Disability Benefits. Tom also filed numerous legal briefs with, and presented oral argument before, the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. 

Tom earned a Bachelors Degree from Boston College in 1975, graduating Cum Laude. He earned his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, in 1979; in 2012 Tom was awarded a Master of Laws (LL.M.), in Law and Government from American University, Washington College of Law.
 

Licensed to practice law in New York and Pennsylvania, Tom is also admitted to practice law before the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims (CAVC) and the Federal Circuit.
 

Tom's oldest son is an officer in the United States Navy; his younger son lives and works in New York, NY.
